Keto Copycat Brown Sugar

You may have heard of Sukrin gold sugar. It is a sugar free brown sugar replacement. After looking at its ingredients I see that malt flavoring is used. This is something I avoid as I steer clear of gluten since I have an intolerance. My sinuses swell and I break out in eczema😣

Malt is usually made from barley and is not gluten free. It can be made from corn, but that is rare. Most malt comes from barley grain that has been soaked, germinated and dried. Ingredients made from maltinclude malt flavoring,

malt syrup and malt extract, none of which are currently considered gluten free.

So imagine how excited I was to put together some commonly found ingredients to make a very tasty copycat substitute of this baking gem!

I have found my ingredients online at thrivemarket.com or luckyvitamin.com for sales. Amazon pretty much has them all too!

Keto Copycat Brown Sugar

1 cup Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener(golden preferred over classic)

3/4 tsp Frontier Brand Maple Flavoring/Extract(preferred,but others may work)

1 tsp SweetLeaf Sweet Drops Liquid Stevia – Vanilla (or other brand that lists glycerin as 1st ingredient)

Put all ingredients in a small bowl and mix with a fork cutting the extract and stevia drops into it until it is uniform in color.

Use like brown sugar in recipes. This works great in baked goods especially!!

What would you use it in?

    Great idea! 😘 Looks good!

    1. Thank you!! I think Im gonna try it on some ham!

    2. Thank you so much!

  2. Sounds good do you use equal measurements as brown sugar if you are subbing it in a recipe?

    1. Thank you for your comment! Yes, I would use the brown sugar substitute in equal measurements if I were to use it in another recipe😊

  3. Just to be sure, many recipes have you pack the brown sugar! When you use it, do you pack it, too? Also, have you ever used erythritol instead of monkfruit?

    1. Yes, always packed. And the Lakanto monkfruit is part erithrytol. You could use straight erithrytol instead of the monkfruit😊

  4. Would vanilla extract work, instead of maple? Frontier maple syrup has soy in it and I can’t have it. Most other brands have alcohol or sugar in them and I can’t have those, either.

    1. It should work fine. The idea of using maple is to mimic molasses. You may try blackstrap molasses instead. It is such a small amount the carbs shouldnt be too much😊

Do you store it in a sealed container in the pantry? And how long will it be good to store?

    1. Great question! I usually only make it as I need it. If you make ahead, store in the fridge due to the glycerite stevia😊

  6. I thought the golden monk fruit was brown sugar replacement ????

    1. No, not entirely. It is lacking the moisture regular brown sugar has. Sukrin gold, or this, is a brown sugar replacement because it has moisture.

What is the nutritonal value per serving

    1. It would depend on what glycerite stevia you choose, and what type of granulated sweetener you use. Simply add it up from the serving size on your package😊

  8. […] good for this maple syrup recipe but also for my Keto Breakfast Sandwich recipe and make your own Keto Brown Sugar! I love adding a little to my Keto Pancakes […]

I have looked at all the SweetLeaf Sweet Drops, and NON of them have glycerin as an ingredient. So what should I use?

    1. I get mine online from thrivemarket.com The one with glycerin just adds a touch of extra moisture. Use regular stevia drops. You could add an additional 1/4 tsp of blackstrap molasses for extra moisture😊
